Police arrest 17 in raids across the NSW Central Coast targeting Rebels bikie gang activities
More than 200 police officers and detectives raided several properties across the NSW Central Coast, arresting 17 people suspected of being connected to the Rebels outlaw motorcycle gang activities.
Officers of the Northern Region, the Public Order and Riot Squad, PolAir, the Dog Unit, Rescue and the Bomb Disposal Unit executed multiple warrants at numerous properties as part of Strike Force Gately.
A total of 17 people were arrested across the two days, with 10 said to be patched members or associates of the Rebels bikie gang, NSW Police said in a statement.
Detectives seized prohibited drugs, pill presses, a handgun and ammunition.
Large sums of cash and Rebels paraphernalia were all so impounded along with a number of reptiles. Around 40 taxations notices were served.
Police exercised eight warrants on Tuesday at homes in suburbs across the region, followed by four more on Wednesday.
Police raided a tattoo parlour and another property at The Entrance on Tuesday as well as homes in Lisarow, Killarney Vale, Budgewoi, Hamlyn Terrace and Mannering Park.
More raids were carried out Wednesday at homes in The Entrance, Wyoming and Kangy Angy.
Strike Force Gately was formed in January 2015, bringing together officers and detectives from the State Crime Command’s Gangs Squad and Tuggerah Lakes Local Area Command to investigate Rebels activities in the Central Coast region.
Police said they expect more arrests to be made as the strike force continues its investigation.
