'Sickening' footage shows pensioner, 68, knocked to the ground in one-punch attack
Police are investigating an horrific one-punch attack on a 68-year-old pensioner in Sydney’s northern suburbs.
The cowardly act was caught on camera on the footpath outside Mimmo’s Pizza in Brookvale.
A visibly aggressive man can be seen yelling obscenities and pointing at the older man while a witness stands between the two men.
“I’m 68 years of age,” the gentleman can be heard saying.
But the younger man is undeterred. He jabs his victim in the jaw with a quick punch that leaves the pensioner on the ground.
A man believed to be an employee of the pizza shop walks outside the door and tells the suspect he has called police.
The 68-year-old man remains sitting on the floor as his attacker walks away.
The video of the attack has been viewed over 85,000 times on Facebook, sparking outrage from shocked viewers.
“Sickening!” one woman wrote.
“This kind of thing is just pathetic what a low life maggot,” a man said.
A Mimmo’s Pizza employee told Yahoo7 the men were arguing inside the store before they took it outside.
She said the woman behind the camera was known the older gentleman, but decided to film the scene rather than intervene.
A police spokesperson said they were aware of the situation but were still investigating.
The incident allegedly occurred about three weeks ago although the video has only circulated over the past day.
